Data from the China Iron and Steel Industry Association shows that from January to August, the country produced a total of 713 million tons of crude steel, a year-on-year increase of 2.60%; 604 million tons of pig iron, a year-on-year increase of 3.70%; and 909 million tons of steel, a year-on-year increase of 6.30%.
